To run a sustainable coaching business, you will need to get clear on:
- Your Needs, Limits, Boundaries & Values
- Your Bigger Picture
- The Numbers
For many coaches, it’s hard to grasp what your personal Needs, Limits, Boundaries and Values are.
And perhaps you are not sure yet what the Bigger Picture system change you can make is.
That’s why we think starting with “The Spreadsheet of Things” can really help.
This original Better Bolder Braver guide is specifically designed for Life and Executive Coaches who want to do good, ethical marketing.
Inside it, you will find four, easy instruction steps to better financial management of your coaching business.
At the end of this process, you will feel so much lighter!
How much money do you need, for now?
No-one likes spending hours on budgets, but you should have a rough idea of what you absolutely need to make, now.
Let’s start with that, but by all means have a robust plan of action for making more in the future.
How long do you enjoy working with people for?
Some coaches prefer to work with one person for a year. Others like to work with many, for just six sessions. There is no “right way”, but it’s worth having a good think about for how long you enjoy working with an individual or group of people.
What also informs this, is how much you enjoy having “sales” conversations, what your terms of engagement are and how easy it is to work with several people at once.
Do you have a work/work balance?
How many hours a week/ month / year do you actually have for your coaching business?
People are always talking about ‘work/life balance’, but we like to talk to our 121 clients and community members more often about what we call their ‘work/work balance’.
As a busy mum of two running two businesses and a home, Frances – the author of our free Starting with the Numbers guide – needs to very clear about where her time goes, and she’s found what she calls ‘The Spreadsheet of Things’ to be the driving force behind this.
- Our Start with the Numbers guide helps you get clear on your “Work / Work Balance”, so you can plot out what your ideal working week would look like.
- You can play around with different revenue streams over the next few years, get creative with what you are charging per 121 client, per group client and for other coaching work such as corporate workshops, retreats or community memberships.
- You can even input any other part time work you are doing and you’ll see a grand total per year.
- Having got clearer on how many 121 clients, group clients and/or other coaching work you need per month, you will be able to use the spreadsheets that are linked to the guide to keep tabs on your actual income.
Without even realising it – by getting clearer on your numbers, you will have unconsciously put in place some boundaries and limits on your time and what you are willing to charge in exchange for your coaching.
The Starting with the Numbers guide has been specially designed by Frances to help you start 2024 with purpose, clarity and joy.
We designed this community to help coaches – or “people-helpers” to improve your ‘relationship with’ marketing and this guide goes one step further.
Coaches who have to do marketing also have to face the feelings that marketing brings up. We can capitalise on this self-awareness to feel more confident about putting ourselves out there in the world more easily.
This guide for you is based on Frances’s personal experience, knowledge and passion to change the way coaches think and feel about marketing – from striving for ‘conversions’ to enjoying many meaningful conversations.
The spreadsheet templates she shares with you through this guide are based on her own, personal financial planning. which we believe will make it all even easier for you to let your numbers guide YOU.
Frances ia on hand to share her knowledge and ensure you get the results you deserve, but more importantly a feeling of satisfaction, from your marketing.
Do not hesitate to get in touch with her for any additional support you might need.
Some coaches feel a real calling to inform what I call a ‘Big Picture System Change’. The question for you if you are one of them is who can you start with? This will really help you in choosing your Ideal Client, or as many call it, “Niching”.
Others – quite simply – don’t.
But your bigger picture isn’t just your seismic environmental, economic, cultural hopes and dreams.
Your bigger picture can also be the kids, parents, health and money things that your coaching and other working life has to fit into.
We want to help you work out why you’re doing this and how it’s all going to work for you.
